Hi there!

My name is Enrico Wensing and I am the founder of Ecosphere Net.

On my recently published book entitled "I Am Sustainability: How the Human body Can Save the Planet" my name appears as EJ Wensing.

My first name is the Italian version of Henk, my grandfather's name. It was the tradition in my family to be named after the grandparents. But, because there were already a few Henks in the family, my parents opted for the Italian form.

The "J" in my name is for Jaqcues, which is the French version of my other grandfather's name, my mother’s father, which was Jakob.

I was born in Haarlem, Holland but moved to Canada with my family when I was just 6 years old. I grew-up in Canada and I hold a Master of Science degree in molecular genetics from the University of Toronto.

Most recently, after living for a time in New Mexico, I have moved to the US Virgin Islands where I live with my wife who is a physician in family practice.

I am also currently completing a doctorate in psychology as applied to education for sustainability at Saybrook Graduate School, California.

As far as I can tell, my view of sustainability is pretty different than most.

While most sustainability efforts are about doing more sustainable things, like being more environmentally friendly, my view is about how we can take that even further when we begin to integrate sustainability into who we are.

That’s right, actually integrate sustainability into who we each are as an individual. My view is that sustainability can actually be integrated and become a large part of a person’s identity.

This goes further than most approaches to sustainability, and if a deeper more effective connection with sustainability is possible why not go for it?

While my approach is more confrontational than remembering to recycle plastics and paper, at the end of the day don’t we want to do our best to be as effective as possible toward achieving global sustainability?

No matter where I’ve been and where I have lived I have experienced our positive human potential. It’s everywhere. It’s up to us now to channel that potential toward the greatest challenge facing us, that of achieving global sustainability.

I invite you to visit our website and join us at Ecosphere Net!
